Clinical Bodywork
Life leaves its mark on the body. Old injuries, surgeries, repetitive strain, prolonged sitting, physical labor, or years of compensation patterns can all create restrictions in connective tissue. Over time, restrictions such as scar tissue, adhesions, and shortened muscle fibers limit movement and contribute to chronic pain.
If you are experiencing stiffness, pulling sensations, old injury flare-ups, or joints that no longer move as they once did, Clinical Bodywork is designed to address the underlying causes, not just the symptoms.
Please understand that this is not a spa massage or a full-body relaxation treatment. Clinical Bodywork is focused, intentional, and results-driven.
What is Clinical Bodywork?
Clinical Bodywork (sometimes called clinical or medical massage) is a targeted therapeutic approach that addresses specific problem areas affecting movement and function. Unlike traditional massage, which often focuses on full-body relaxation, clinical bodywork concentrates on restricted tissue, adhesions, scar tissue, and mobility loss related to injury, surgery, or chronic overuse.
This work is especially effective for:
- Scar tissue from surgeries or injuries
- Adhesions in muscle and connective tissue
- Old or unresolved injuries
- Chronic joint stiffness or “frozen” movement
- Postural and compensation patterns
- Limited range of motion and functional pain
The goal is to restore movement, improve fascial glide, and reduce pain by addressing restrictions at their source. Clinical Bodywork is often recommended by healthcare professionals when soft-tissue restrictions contribute to pain or dysfunction and may complement physical therapy, chiropractic care, or rehabilitation programs.
Myoskeletal Alignment & Advanced Clinical Techniques
Myoskeletal Alignment is a form of advanced clinical bodywork that goes beyond hands-on massage alone. It combines precise manual therapy with medical-grade modalities such as ultrasound and vacuum mobilization to access deeper layers of restricted tissue.
While manual techniques address superficial tension, these modalities allow us to work with:
- Dense adhesions
- Deep scar tissue
- Chronic fascial restrictions
- Tissue that no longer responds to traditional massage
Ultrasound helps soften and remodel scar tissue at deeper levels, while vacuum mobilization gently lifts and separates bound tissue layers, improving circulation and restoring mobility. This integrated approach is particularly effective for long-standing issues where conventional massage, stretching, and physical therapy have not produced lasting results.
Lisa is amazing! I strained my shoulder bad and could barely lift it. Less than 2 weeks later I'm almost pain free. Lisa is excellent at finding the source of the problem and knowing what to do. I'll be going to her for all my aches and pains. —David
Your First Appointment: What to Expect
Your initial Clinical Bodywork appointment is designed to assess and address a specific mobility or pain issue - you will not receive a full-body massage.
1. Consultation
We begin with a detailed discussion of your medical history, injuries, surgeries, lifestyle, and current limitations. This helps identify patterns contributing to your restriction and guides the treatment approach.
2. Clinical Assessment
A movement-based exam helps locate restrictions caused by scar tissue, adhesions, and contracted muscles. These areas often limit joint motion and create compensatory pain in other areas of the body.
3. Advanced Modalities
To address deep restrictions, ultrasound and vacuum mobilization may be used.
- Ultrasound delivers sound waves into deep tissue to soften scar tissue and promote healing.
- Vacuum mobilization uses negative pressure to release bound tissue, improve circulation, and restore tissue glide.
4. Targeted Treatment
Hands-on clinical bodywork focuses on releasing restricted tissue, improving joint mechanics, and restoring functional movement in the affected area.
5. Customized Therapy Plan
You will receive individualized recommendations that may include mobility exercises, stretching, or postural guidance to support lasting results.
Please note: your first appointment may take up to 90 minutes to allow for a thorough evaluation and effective treatment.
A Special Offer Just for You!
For a limited time, your first appointment includes a complimentary Biofreeze Professional analgesic. This cooling gel will help alleviate soreness or muscle tension after your appointment so you can continue feeling your best throughout the day.
What to Bring & Wear
To get the most out of your therapy, please wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy movement. Wear or bring light clothing you can freely move in to help assess your range of motion and ensure the treatment is as effective as possible.

I have been having hip and lower back issues and pain for many years. I had been to other massage, PT and accu puncture sessions and received no or little pain relief.
